My former boss texted me asking where I was today after my last day being Friday

|

I put my 2 weeks notice in at my company on March 8th. I then called my boss to resign and then emailed him my resignation letter and then emailed it to HR with him on the thread. I then had a conversation with him last Monday where he berated me asking why I’m quitting etc. I get a text today while on the first day of my new job from my ex boss asking me if I’m coming in today or if Friday was my last day. I didn’t even respond. How can people be so stupid sometimes? I’m thankful I no longer have to deal with this ridiculous boss anymore. I would also like to say that this is a job in the technology and communication field. This isn’t like some hourly food service job. Oh and I was there for 2 years.

Most of the reason I left was because of him. No communication skills, no professionalism, no class. I can’t work for someone like that

You’ve moved on and completed your resignation. Collect your last pay cheque from HR directly and only communicate with them if you don’t receive it. If you have already received it you don’t owe anyone any explanation. Then go buy yourself a nice coffee and bask in the glory of not having to deal with this asshole and on to your new beginning! You deserve it and good luck at your new place :)

Thank you so much. I (as a grown man) honestly almost cried today at how nice everyone treated me. They gave me a gift card and a custom coffee mug with my name engraved and set me up with a sweet standing / sitting desk. Everyone was so kind and I can’t believe I stayed where I was at for so long!

You could call your old HR rep and ask them to kindly let the old boss know that your last day was Friday. Some cluelessness needs to be shared where it counts.

Lmao, when he called he was saying things like “this new job is underpaying you”(even though I’m making more at this new one), “it’s doubtful they’ll stay in business”, and “do you even know what this company does?”. I don’t get why people act that way

I mean the sad thing is that he isn’t too bad at his normal job. But he just cannot lead a team. And it shows. He cancels meetings, misses meetings, ignores meetings, and really only cares about himself and how he’s doing

Maybe if you said yes, you could collect another pay? Sounds like he wouldn't know the difference! But seriously, how sad that he couldn't be bothered to make note of your last day and say farewell/ good luck. Sounds horrid. Good luck in the new role !

I have someone I have to interact with like 2 times a month or so at work that I can't stand. This person isn't my boss but if he or she were to leave or transfer to a new job it would feel like I doubled my pay. Unfortunately it's been several years and I'm still waiting. I daydream sometimes about whenever that day may arrive. Congratulations on being rid of yours.

I was a cart pusher/bagger at kroger once... I saw something moving on the ground out the corner of my eye.. A scratch off.. Hmmm wouldn't hurt to look! I quickly realized it had many matching numbers but the winming amounts were not scratched!!. I showed many coworkers & waited til I got home to scratch the amounts... Couple weeks later they called me asking why I was late & I told them because I'm not coming "why not?" They asked lol.. I told them I was on vacation & busy getting a back rub on the beach.. "Be serious" they said.. I told them about the lotto ticket I found pushing carts XD one of them of whom would barely do jack shit & sit around playing the scratch off every damn day!!!! They got real quiet, I said my goodbye & hung up laughing!! The scratch off I found=$100 The joke I pulled on them=priceless!! I never went back, found a new job & let them toss & turn at night & probably even hunt for scratch offs in the parking lot every chance they got XD mfrs want to waste my time.. OKAY THEN ✌

Why do so many managers seem to be complete mindless idiots these days. Could swear with many, the more education they got the more out of touch with reality they became, it's that or many companies really need to start being more selective on who they choose to be in charge.

Damn, I would've texted back "are you really this incompetent/stupid?" There's something liberating about finally getting to say what you want when you no longer work for a shit boss. My favorite was when an ex boss asked me to work a few more days to "help our team" she said, "are you really going to do this to our team?" I just said," that's not my team and you're not my boss. Have fun with that revolving door."

Your ex boss does sound like a turd, but I fail to see what that has to do with “some hourly food service job”. Are all of the workers in food service just that dumb to you? There are dumb, shitty people at every company. Dumbasses with every kind of title or degree. Morons at every level of every organization. Dipshits in every industry. This is life whether you’re hourly or salaried; whether you work at some tech company or work at Burger King.

Only because this wasn't mentioned: did you actually give a date for your final day in the resignation email or was it a vague "outta here in two weeks"?

Something similar happened to me at one of my previous jobs. Work from home thing where we could only work on their special secure chromebooks. Put in my 2 weeks, returned the chromebook, then got a call from the regional manager asking why I didn't sign up for any shifts and if I can work that week

I would simply reply that Friday was my last day... You can keep a good relationship with your last boss because maybe you can get something from this network (opportunity, clients, etc) that's of course if he wasn't abusive or very bad person...

That's hilarious considering how easy it is to track the date. They could of put it on their phone calendar... Or.... "Alexa, set a reminder in two weeks time - Lazy OP is quitting". *At what time should I remind you?*. "8am". *... At what time?*. "... 8 o'clock in the morning...". *is that 8 o'clock in the morning, or the evening?*. "..."

This is symptomatic of a boss that doesn't really pay attention to their workers. They have to care to know that you are leaving and what your end date is. This one obviously doesn't pay attention and doesn't care.
