Aperio Global is seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer to lead the design and transformation of network architecture for one of its commercial programs in Dulles, VA. As a Network Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and optimizing the network infrastructure, with a focus on data, voice, video, and public safety capabilities. Your expertise in VoIP systems, network protocols, security, and documentation will be invaluable in this role.
Establish network architecture and design that align with the program’s current state, and effectively persuade and guide the implementation team to execute your vision.
Develop comprehensive architecture and design plans for data, voice, video, and public safety networks, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
Bring your expertise in transforming PBX-based telephone systems to VoIP, including hands-on experience with MS Teams and Cisco VoIP, with a strong focus on high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and failover capacities.
Demonstrate expert-level knowledge across all layers of the OSI model, ensuring the highest level of proficiency in implementation.
Effectively document, collaborate, and present your network designs to both IT and business leadership, making persuasive arguments based on trade-offs between architecture and cost.
Utilize your hands-on implementation skills and deep understanding of network security to create a robust and secure network environment.
Collaborate closely with IT and business stakeholders to establish and gain approvals for critical documents, including Technical Requirements Documents (TRC), Technical Architecture Concepts (TAC), Critical Incident Response Coordination (CIRC), and Board-level documents.
Work under the guidance of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Deputy Vice President Chief Technology Officer (DVP CTO) to drive the strategic direction of network infrastructure.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in network design, infrastructure architecture, analysis, and deployments.
In-depth knowledge of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems, including expertise in Cisco Unified Communications, Microsoft Teams Calling, or other VoIP platforms.
Experience with SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and H.323, with a proven ability to configure and troubleshoot VoIP devices, such as IP phones, gateways, and Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
Strong understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Quality of Service (QoS).
Expertise in LAN, WAN, and wireless networking, as well as routing and switching technologies, including Cisco routers and switches.
Familiarity with the latest Wi-Fi standards and technologies, including Wi-Fi 6, and experience in designing and implementing modern Wi-Fi infrastructures for high performance and reliability.
Knowledge of Wi-Fi security best practices.
Previous work experience in network architecture, preferably in a role involving VoIP systems and Wi-Fi modernization.
A strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, routing, and switching, with the ability to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities effectively.
Proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to protect network assets. VPN Technologies:
Familiarity with virtual private network (VPN) technologies for secure remote access. Access Control:
Expertise in access control mechanisms, including role-based access control (RBAC) and network segmentation.
Knowledge of SIEM tools for monitoring and analyzing network security events. Encryption:
Understanding of encryption protocols and technologies, including SSL/TLS, IPsec, and VPN encryption.
Proficiency in ethical hacking and penetration testing techniques to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
Skills in network monitoring and traffic analysis to identify anomalies and potential security breaches.
Understanding of incident response procedures and the ability to handle security incidents effectively.
