The Gaithersburg Outpatient Mental Health Center provides outpatient mental health treatment to adults and children.
The Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of staff, clinic operations, clinical care, and the financial objectives of the clinic.
The Director position exhibits strong leadership, crisis management, entrepreneurial and marketing skills in the management and growth of the program.
This leader develops and manages program budgets to ensure financial growth, supervises professional treatment teams and program support staff, and ensures efficient, effective operations.
The director handles client complaints, staff onboarding, weekly and monthly operational tasks, and grant funded initiatives.
The director has oversight over clinical and administrative staff and is responsible for leading and training to ensure excellent clinical care, customer services, low no show rates and compliance with all documentation requirements, CARF regulations and business workflows.
The role includes ensuring compliance with the requirements of licensing, regulatory, and accreditation bodies. The program is a member of the Community Treatment service line and coordinates workflows with other outpatient clinics.
A key responsibility involves standardization of operations and change management across the service line. The ideal candidate is able to function in a busy environment with grace and humor, lead expectations for high quality care for clients and bring experience with cultural competence, fiscal management, people skills to build relationships with internal Sheppard staff and external services and organizations.
The leader will have experience addressing mental health care for diverse populations in an urban setting.
Position requires a master’s degree in Mental Health, Health Service or Health Administration and active Maryland LCSW-C or LCPC at time of appointment.
Work requires a thorough knowledge of mental health care, outpatient mental health systems and service delivery management, program planning and evaluation, budgeting, and use of financial statements and strong written and oral communications skills. Extensive clinical experience required. Skills in Microsoft products including excel and understanding of non-profit financial reports required.
Work requires three to five years of progressively responsible related experience in outpatient health care management to plan and direct all phases of assigned clinical program(s) including health care administration, staff management, billing and reimbursement, crisis management, clinical supervision, and credentialing.
Demonstrated managerial ability sufficient to strategically manage change including:
standardizing of workflows, development of short and long-term goals and objectives, formulating and administering budgets, directing staff, creating, and using reports to monitor progress. Demonstrates strong history of health care management including entrepreneurial experiences starting new programs. Work requires excellent people skills sufficient to direct a large clinical staff and to effectively communicate within Sheppard Pratt and with outside individuals, groups, and committees to manage and promote program(s).
Work requires problem-solving skills sufficient to manage daily operations and to coordinate efforts across the organization.
Work requires enthusiasm, compassion for clients and staff, a commitment to excellence, understanding current treatment trends and the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details when developing and administering program plans and budgets, preparing for review by outside parties, and meeting program deadlines. This role requires a spirit of collaboration with other leaders throughout the health system.
