Accountant - Internal Operations

Chevo is seeking an Accountant-Internal Operations to work internally as part of the Chevo corporate staff. This internal position at Chevo will be assisting Controller with day-to-day activities including but not limited to running payroll, processing/paying expense reports, performing accounts payables and receivables, tracking project hours and funds to the contracted amount, and other accounting tasks as assigned. This position is located on-site in Rockville, MD 5 days a week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Controller with day-to-day accounting activities such as managing, updating, and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial transaction
(accounts payable, expense vouchers, and receipts)
• Manage reconciliation of financial records, reports and financial statements
• Monitor project expenditures ensuring compliance with policies
• Perform budget and forecasting analysis, and conducting variance analysis
• Monitor and manage all accounts receivables, deposit of monies and funds transactions accounts
• Approve time sheets
• Create spreadsheet to track important accounting information
• Present weekly accounting updates for weekly operations meetings

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Management
• 3+ Years as an accountant or working as an internal accountant
• Experience performing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing functions for a federal consulting services firm
• Working knowledge of Unanet Accounting system is required
• Solid understanding of accounting practices for a federal contractor
• Strong organizational, analytical, and multi-tasking skills
• A strong team player but can also work independently / self-directed
• Strong MS Office Skills, especially Excel
