Job Description

JOB TITLE: Research Associate I, Upstream Process Development DEPARTMENT: Upstream Process Development REPORTS TO: Director, Upstream Process Development LOCATION: Rockville, MD (5-Research) General Vigene Biosciences has been a leader at the forefront of cell and gene therapy, AdenoAssociated virus or AAV vector production, adenovirus vector production, lentivirus vector production, retrovirus vector production, plasmid production, viral vector QC and analytical services, plasmid QC and analytical services, providing services and products to support this rapidly growing and increasingly important field. Under supervision, the Research Associate I will assist in executing experiments in cell culture, upstream related process assay, sourcing reagents, equipment, and materials for specific projects. Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of a senior associate or Scientist, the RA I will assist in grow cells in different types of vessels including small bioreactors for developing a robust seed train and bioreactor processes for virus production or cell banking. Follows direction of supervisor to perform in process assay including, but not limited to, quantitative PCR, immunoassays and DNA purification, restriction enzyme digestion and gel electrophoresis etc. To record and analyze experimental data and observations and help in preparation of process report follow SOP of good documentation. Other tasks as needed such as preparation of buffers, general laboratory maintenance, assisting in GMP manufacturing etc. Qualifications for the Job Bachelor of Science in Chemical & Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field with 0-2 years of experience Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques and cell biology. Preferable to have hands-on experience in cell culture Ability to work independently and to perform multi-tasks for different projects simultaneously Excellent teamwork, collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written) Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook and Excel) Ability to learn critical thinking and troubleshooting skills Well-organized and able to manage time for multiple projects Ability to record, analyze experimental data follow the SOP of good documentation Key Competencies Demonstrates integrity and respect Delivers results Demonstrates business acumen Fosters collaboration and teamwork Champions change Engages and inspires Working Conditions Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
