U.S. DOD Active Secret Level Security Clearance

This position is for an Aviation Simulator Technician who will focus on the support of the B-52 Weapon System Trainer, the System Integration Lab (SIL), and perform troubleshooting down to the component level, general maintenance and support of the SIL and other devices.

Maintain an inventory of all Government furnished equipment (GFE) and trainer specific spare parts and support equipment.

Perform and report periodic inventories of this equipment in Sterling, VA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Power up/power down SIL and other devices as needed to support engineering efforts, to include hardware/software integration and formal test.

  • Daily opening and closing of the SCIF environment.

    Active SECRET clearance is required.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematic drawings.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing, rebuilding, calibrating, and maintaining in efficient operating condition, a wide variety of electrical, electronic, Avionics, computational and mechanicalequipment.
  • Completing periodic inspections and scheduled/preventative maintenance.
  • Solving unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers manuals or similar documents.
  • Proficient use of all hand tools and specialized tools to include, but not limited to digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, wire wrap tools, cable testers, soldering equipment that is required for the proper operation and repair of the simulator.
  • Isolating malfunctions and incorporating engineeringchanges.

  • Maintaining a detailed understanding of interrelationships of circuits, the basics of PC Architecture and Networking.

  • Exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses and tracing relationships insignal flow.

  • Master use of complex test instruments and computer controlequipment.
  • Use of organizational skills to maintain a lab environment and its assets to include the SIL spares and inventory.



Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. DOD Active Secret Level Security Clearance


Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of an Associate degree, a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Avionics maintenance experience of U.S. DOD Aircraft or U.S. DOD Simulators.
  • A basic knowledge of aircraft andaerodynamics.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in use of Test Equipment; to include, but not limited to digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, wire wrap tools, cable testers, soldering equipment.

    At least 3 years.

  • A+ Certification or experience
  • Experience in the implementation of U.S. DOD Cybersecurity Process Controls to include Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
